QAC Becomes First in MD to Ban Non-Biodegradable Balloon Releases

Plastic Free QAC is pleased to announce that QAC is the FIRST county in Maryland to pass a bill banning the release of large numbers of mylar non-biodegradable balloons!! Sending a BIG thanks to Commissioner Christopher Corchiarino who introduced the bill, Plastic Free QAC Board member Jay Falstad whose unwavering commitment spearheaded the effort, and to all the other folks who testified and worked hard to move this bill forward. A very significant step for our unified environmental efforts here in QAC!! In September 2019 the Washington Post picked up the story. Read below for more on this pollution problem. As more counties throughout Maryland get involved, hoping for a statewide ban in 2021 or sometime in the not too distant future.
