RETHINK THE STRAW

A CAMPAIGN TO REDUCE PLASTIC STRAW WASTE IN QAC

PFQAC’s “Rethink the Straw” campaign will help reduce your expenses on disposable products, while positively impacting the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in the Chesapeake Bay. It is easy to participate and does NOT require any additional expense or new purchases. We simply ask that you refrain from automatically giving plastic straws to customers during the month of “Plastic Free July”. By agreeing to ONLY provide straws upon request, you will bring recognition to your restaurant and do something good for the environment. As a leader in the community, your participation could inspire others to join the effort.

QUICK FACTS

  • Over 500 million plastics straws are used every day in the United States alone

  • Plastic straws are the number one item found in beach cleanups

  • You can save money by only providing straws when your guests request them

CAMPAIGN GOALS

Encourage restaurants in Queen Anne’s County to offer straws on request by highlighting restaurants already making sustainable choices with straws, and inspiring and motivating other restaurants to take the challenge.

WHEN WILL THE CAMPAIGN TAKE PLACE?

During the month of July, globally known as Plastic Free July.

HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?

Frequent our participating restaurants and give them big thanks for their efforts! Bring your own straw or simply don't request a straw at drink time.
